How To Treat One Another

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

(Matthew 24:12)

The Bible forewarns of a time when iniquity (or evil) will be so prevalent, that love will wax cold (many will choose not to love).  I see beautiful examples of love in our world today, but I also see many examples of evil or anger. 

I was listening to a sermon recently by one of my favorite Bible teachers, Charles Stanley…his sermon topic intrigued me because I thought to myself, Do people really need a sermon on how to treat other people?

Yes, they do…yes, I do!

Pastor Stanley challenged us to treat others the way we would have them to treat us. One example of this would include examining the words that come out of our mouths and how we say them.  This hits home for me because sometimes what I say is not always necessary and how I say it is not always kind.  I will add another point as well regarding body language.  What do our eyes or the expressions on our face say as we interact with others?

My mom was the epitome of kindness in her interactions with other people.  She never met a stranger because the spirit she exemplified as she spoke with them made people feel seen and cared for…that should be our intention as well as we interact with other people. 

I remember one day driving and seeing a homeless person standing on the street corner.  When I stopped to give her money, she said something I will never forget…she said, “Thank you for stopping because I thought no one was even seeing me standing here.”  Her words hit home for me…are we seeing people?  Are we treating people with kindness?  This means we must first forgive!

Let’s put aside the anger and learn how to love and speak kindly to one another…
